From Jen: “I’m a self-taught carpenter with a fearless DIY spirit and a penchant for problem-solving. The House of Wood is my creative outlet for all things DIY and design, a place where I document my adventures in designing and building furniture and tackling home renovation projects.”

We’ve been working with Jen Woodhouse for nearly a decade. Over those years she’s built projects as small as this modern dog house to others as large as a floating deck. In the last two years, she’s built a backyard Pergola, DIY’d a workbench in under two hours and even desiged and built a fence with our free Fence Planner Software. Jen is a fantastic DIYer who is a dream to work with and who isn’t afraid to tackle even the largest projects that can bring a backyard to life.

2. Sadie Mae Johns aka The Awesome Orange
From Sadie: “What started as a desire to create AWESOME furniture for my nest . . . turned into a passion to create AWESOME furniture for everyone. My brand, The Awesome Orange, is about building custom furniture and DIYing my fixer-upper all while inspiring others to Build Loud, Build Wild!”

Sadie has tackled a diverse suite of projects with us, including a floating deck for her backyard, pool-lounger chairs for her brand-new deck and a fastener-connected built-in-bookshelf, which provides plenty of shelving space for her home’s needs. Her infectious energy is apparent in everything she does, with her can-do attitude and upbeat spirit. Working with Sadie truly is AWESOME.

3. Jenny Palo aka Palo Woodcraft
From Jenny: “I’m a lifelong learner with a passion for woodworking and DIYing. I recently bought a new house and I’ve been slowly working my way through, building new furniture and giving all the rooms more character.”

Jenny is one of our newest brand ambassadors. She participated in our WBSK challenge and built an inspired workbench with our WBSK kit. Since partnering with Simpson Strong-Tie, she’s shown an ingenuity for unique uses of our products. Her first project was a DIY Dream Walk-In Closet renovation which gave us the opportunity to showcase our new line of medium-duty fasteners. Most recently she designed a Free Standing Porch Swing Frame perfect for any backyard. This swing featured a clever use of our new decorative knee brace connector. We’re excited to see what Jenny dreams up in 2023.

4. Joana Bianchi
From Joana: “I’m going to help you transform your home. I am a DIYer with a passion for interior decoration and breathing new life into furniture. I hope to inspire you with new ideas and give you confidence to make your house a home: that is what being HOMEMAKER is all about.”

Joana brings a simple but modern flair to all her projects. Her ideas show how an apartment of any size can be transformed with the help of our hardware. One of her first projects was a simple bed frame designed to spruce up any bedroom. This bedframe is held together by our black powder-coated Outdoor Accents® hardware that provides strength and style. She also built a very comfortable sofa bed which does double duty as a couch and spare bed for guests and updated her kitchen with some kitchen counter bar stools.

5. Dena of Fletcher Creek Cottage
From Dena: “I live on 65 acres, just outside our hometown, in a little cottage that my family and I built from the ground up. I moved back to our hometown to raise our children near family and live a simpler life. To make that happen we needed to save as much as possible, which led my husband and me to build our entire house entirely DIY! I love to share my passion for all things HOME and HOMEmade on my journey of building a beautiful life.”

On her homestead, Dena decided to raise chickens and built a chicken coop and shed to house them using our various anchors, connectors and fasteners. She also added a lovely custom fence for her new garden, planning the DIY build with our free Fence Planning Software and using our sturdy fence brackets.
