Simpson Strong-Tie is proud to recognize and celebrate International Women’s Month. In honor of this month, we would like to acknowledge the achievements of one of our outstanding salespeople, Emily Holtshouser.
Emily is a Residential Sales Manager servicing the northeast region of the country. Despite never having imagined a career in the construction industry, Emily is making a difference and proving that gender equity is essential in all sectors, especially in those that are still mostly male dominated. Emily is no stranger to working in male-dominated industries, having grown up playing hockey.
As Emily puts it, “My whole childhood was hockey. I was used to being one of the only females in the room.” When Emily met the sales team at Simpson Strong-Tie, it gave her the same sense of camaraderie that she grew to relish when she was young, playing hockey with teammates. Even though Emily had never expected to end up with a career in the construction industry, she quickly realized that she found a home at Simpson Strong-Tie. At Simpson Strong-Tie, we’ve worked hard to create a culture that recognizes the talents and contributions of every individual, regardless of their background.
Emily has found Simpson Strong-Tie a supportive environment and says, “No matter who you are, if you’re good at your job, you’re a good person, and you wanna be here, you’re a good fit.” It’s a place where she’s formed many meaningful relationships and friendships.
At Simpson Strong-Tie, we’re proud to foster an inclusive, equitable and diverse work environment, and we strive to have a positive impact on our local and global communities. All this is in line with our Company Value #5 — Everybody Matters. As our founder, Barc Simpson, said, “Everybody in a company is important. Everybody. That’s absolutely crucial, and so you must do everything you can to make people feel that they’re valued.”
Thank you, Emily, for sharing your inspiring story with all of us.
