How To DIY A Nightstand By Rogue Engineer

We love partnering with Jamison because his DIY projects are beautiful, well designed and always have the look of a polished vintage piece. In fact, we worked with Jamison previously to create an industrial style DIY coffee table.

We teamed up with Jamison Rantz from the Rogue Engineer to bring you a DIY nightstand and plans here.

This particular DIY nightstand boasts a vintage farmhouse style with details such as x-sides and rubbed bronze hardware. It’s a perfect nightstand for both concealed storage and showing off items in a basket, too!

If you’d like plans for this DIY nightstand, visit the Rogue Engineer for step-by-step instructions. For this project, Jamison used Deck-Drive™ DSV WOOD screws, Strong-Drive® SD Connector screws and RTA2Z Rigid-Tie® Connectors. Our connectors and fasteners are easy to use, allow for accurate alignment and are strong. They are load tested to ensure they perform as intended and last a long time.

While this DIY nightstand may have a rustic look and feel, it’s actually made out of new wood! Jamison uses Rust-Oleum’s Varathane Wood Stain in Ash to give the DIY nightstand a finish that enhances the farmhouse-inspired design. He finishes off the project by spray-painting the RTA2Z Rigid-Tie® Connectors and screws with Rustoleum’s All Surface Metallic Satin Oil Rubbed Bronze Spray Paint and Primer in One. If you’d rather not paint the connectors, as part of our Outdoor Accents® decorative hardware line, we now offer the APRTA2 Rigid Tie connectors, which have a black powder-coat finish. They install with Outdoor Accents connector screws, which feature a black double-barrier finish. The nice thing about DIY projects is that you can customize the finish and color of your projects to suit your needs and style.
