Simpson Strong-Tie is proud to sponsor Building Safety Month. This annual event, which takes place over the entire month of May, is intended to raise awareness of building safety and all that it involves. The International Code Council pairs together professionals from the building construction, design and safety communities with corporations, government agencies, professional associations and nonprofits to promote building safety.
Each week of Building Safety Month is dedicated to a different aspect of building safety. Alongside ISO, the American Institute of Architects and APA, Simpson Strong-Tie is a cosponsor of week one, whose theme is “Preparing for disasters: Build strong, build smart.”
According to the ICC Building Safety Month website:
“Natural disasters are increasing in severity and frequency. Planning in advance for devastating events like hurricanes, floods, snowstorms, tornadoes, wildfires and earthquakes helps individuals and communities increase the health and safety of their population during a disaster, protects the local tax base, ensures continuity of essential services, and supports a faster recovery in the aftermath of a disaster.”
The website offers five ways to secure your family and help the community.
- Build to the latest codes
- Prepare your family
- Protect your home
- Benchmark your community’s resilience
Week one runs from May 1 through May 5.
