For today’s project, we teamed up with Jamison Rantz from the Rogue Engineer to create a DIY coffee table that’s easy to build, and is built of new materials while having the look and feel of something built with reclaimed or pallet wood. 

The trend of reusing wooden pallets for DIY projects is a great way to be sustainable and save on costs.  So when Jamison proposed his design, for a DIY Pallet Coffee Table I was very excited and I could not wait to see the results. 

Jamison provides plans and step-by-step instructions on his blog for how to build the coffee table, but all you need is a Simpson Strong-Tie Workbench and Shelving Kit, gusset angles and some wood.  

I am partial to this project because I love the look of vintage furniture. However, this DIY coffee table uses all new wood! Jamison and his wife used Rustoleum’s Ultimate Wood Stain in the color Early American, Rustoleum Varathane Wood Stain in Dark Walnut, Rustoleum Varathane Wood Stain in Carrington and Rustoleum Chalked Matte paint in Country Gray  to give it a weathered look. In fact, Jamison’s wife, Jamie Rantz, also built a matching end table and gives a step-by-step DIY tutorial on how she stained the wood and distressed it, too.  

We think the multiple wood stains and distressed matte paint pair well with the industrial look of our connectors. The beauty of DIY projects is that you can custom–build your project to suit your tastes.
